Nerja Tag (website)

Events the tag detects

Every event the Nerja Tag emits automatically, when it fires, and what Nerja uses it for.

You do not call these yourself — the tag classifies clicks and pages with DOM heuristics. This list is what each event means and, importantly, why it matters.

Core shopping events#

EventFires whenUsed for
page_viewA page loads (or the route changes in a single-page app)Sessions, browsing history, top pages

Engagement signals#

EventFires whenUsed for

wishlist_add / wishlist_removeWishlist actionsInterest audiences and back-in-stock style campaigns
search_eventThe site search is usedWhat shoppers look for; search-based offers
scroll_milestoneScroll depth thresholdsEngagement depth

Identity capture#

When a visitor types into a form field the tag emits one event per recognised field, so a lead can be created without a login: email_captured, phone_captured, first_name_captured, last_name_captured, and — only at consent level full — address fields. sign_up_completed and auth_event mark sign-ups and logins.

Privacy

Password, card number, CVV, SSN, bank, PIN and one-time-code fields are never read or sent, at any consent level. See Privacy & consent.

Journey funnel events#

These five are computed from the visitor's whole session and double as campaign triggers.

// When the journey events fire
  1. 5 s × 3

    user_promotion_event

three products, 5 seconds each, no cart action

  2. +30 s

    abandoned_cart_event

in cart, cart page not opened

  3. +30 s

    abandoned_checkout_event

    checkout started, no order

  4. 3 h

    abandoned_cart (per item)

    configurable with cartHours

  5. order

    success_buyer_event

    stops recovery messages

EventMeaningTypical campaign
user_promotion_eventLooked at 3+ products (5 s each) without adding to cartBrowse nurture, best-sellers
abandoned_cart_eventAdded to cart, did not open the cart within 30 sCart reminder
potential_buyer_eventReached the cart pageCheckout nudge
abandoned_checkout_eventStarted checkout, no order within 30 sCheckout recovery
success_buyer_eventOrder confirmedThank-you, cross-sell, stops recovery

Separately, abandoned_cart is emitted per item when it has sat in the cart for the configured cartHours (default 3 hours), with how long it was abandoned and the product details.

Your own events#

Any other event name is accepted. Send it with NerjaTracker.track() — tag JavaScript API.
